Self and peer assessment

Self-assessment and self-reflection are usually used to evaluate and assess learning progress during a period of time. It’s an essential method for lifelong learners to look back, find mistakes, learn from them, and improve their way of learning future.

The framework can be used with yourself alone(self-assessment) or team up (peer assessment) to complete the tasks together. Each method provides unique experiences and benefits to participants.

How to use it?

There are many ways and methods to do a self and peer assessment. This article provides a simple general template for assessment.

2. More personal you
3. Connection with you

You can both answer it in order at once, answer one section and share it with your team together, or let your team assess you after you’ve done your assessment. It’s up to you, as long as it’s fun and engaging.

Benefits

  • Better learner — By learning from experiences, help us avoid the pitfalls we face, and be a better learner in the future.
  • Good reminder — Sometimes we forgot what we’re good at, what we already have, or what we are aiming for.
  • Connect to dots — When working on it with a team, it’s easier to connect your dots with others. And it’s useful when you work on a collaboration project or seek new opportunities to expand your network.
  • Closer to the team — By sharing your comfort space with others, it can bound the team, and improve relationships.

Cautions

When working with a team, make sure you all are in the same safe space where everyone is open and willing to do it. Sometimes I often found that some questions can be too personal, and not everyone is willing to share them. Adjust the framework slightly to suit your context might courage a team to
